Comments :
With Bradford City losing 2-1 away to eventual champions Doncaster in the early kick off, Walsall had the chance to leapfrog the Bantams into 3rd place and put themselves in the automatic promotion spot and 2 points ahead of their Yorkshire rivals. Accrington were still fighting against relegation so a positive outcome was expected. Accrington had two shots: the first a great lob from the edge of the box which looped over Simplins, the second another good effort which Simplins just managed to tip over the bar. A dismal performance from Walsall brought a lot of anger and protest from the Bescot faithful.
