Heard the story behind this fixture a week or two and ago peaked my interest. The original cup draw 45 years ago was never played because of the iron curtain and visa issues in short. After some fans from both clubs got involved they played the away friendly last year and received the warmest reception which they sought to replicate. 1200 purple clad German fans descended on MOURNEVIEW in a very noisy but carnival atmosphere (including a dozen motorcycleist clad in club colours)becoming a spectacle which had to be seen and was worth the 16 hour round trip for me and my mate Phil as the game was secondary to what went off between the two sets of supporters even if the hosts were outnumbered 5-1, a special day.
