Match no. 1. Easter Saturday. My very first football match with big thanks to Dad for taking me after he got home from work. I''d seen Highbury lots of times from the train going through Finsbury Park but this was the first time I''d actually been there. It seemed very big and impressive. I started off supporting Leytonstone but switched to Wimbledon as they were playing the better football and looked the part in their very smart royal blue shirts. Brian Martin and Norman Williams scored for Wimbledon, Roger Day for Leytonstone. Wimbledon went on to beat Sutton United 4-2 in the Final at Wembley with centre-forward Eddie Reynolds scoring all 4 goals with headers!
