Decided at 10.00 to go to this game. 10.50 from BS to Vic, tube to Euston and 11.54 to Northampton. (£14.45 fare). Arr 13.10,walked into town, had light lunch and lemon tea sitting outside All Saints church bistro in warm sunshine. Walked the mile plus to Sixfields, arr 14.45.Bought programme (£3) and £15 conc. in Main stand, and £1 fanzine. Sitting 3 rows from the back of stand and chatted to a long term supporter. D&G away kit is green with black trim. They showed greater flair in early play, Northampton happy to thump the ball upfield, with little attempt to play the ball around. D&G had lots of corners but N defended well and against the run of play scored a scrappy goal after 25 mins. In the second half D&G continued to play the more attractive football and continued to press, again earning many corners but couldn't convert to a goal. N contrived to score a well worked second goal, caused by a poor back pass by a D&G defender, local hero Adebayo Akinfenwa heading home. In injury time D&G passed the ball around and finally breached the N defence for a good goal. The Cobblers hung on for the first home win of the season. Had a brisk walk to the station to catch the 17.25 back to Euston, arr 18.27. At Vic 18.52 to BS and 119 to arrive home at 19.20.
