Very good day. Strangely met a Fulham fan on the platform boarding the train down to London, very nice chap and had a pleasant talk about all things football. Got off the tube, masses of toon fans about, was a couple of hours before kick-off but decided to get up the stadium and look around. Wasnt the best of lookers as I walked up to it, looked more like a farmers unit from behind the Putney end, main entrance had all the character and was reasonably impressive, was expecting a bit more but had high expectations. Inside the ground was more impressive than I expected, lots of character with the craven cottage and the wooden seats. Unique layout to me as well, with the concourse outside and home and away fans freely mixing with no police on the concourse or in the stands. Slightly annoying in the stands though, when you''re on away day and being told to constantly sit down by some boring home fans behind you. Fulham fans were poor, only heard them when they scored. Toon were top notch, slightly deflated at 4-1 and 5-2 mind, but that''s to be expected. Scoreline flattered Fulham, I''d be lying if i said the best team won, because they didnt. Bossed the game for the first 45 but only scored the one, but it was a screamer from Guthrie. First 20 of the second half, Fulham banged in 4, catching us on the break pretty much every time, first one was a peno that never looked like a foul, Fulham fans thought he''d blown for a dive and apparently replays showed it wasnt even in the box anyway. Bringing it back to 4-2 and constantly attacking with 10 to go, was a great atmospher, but then another quick break made it 5-2 and that was that. Good day though.
