Lunch in the Drysalters watching Chelsea v Birmingham (1-1). Could it be the end of AVB (Compare the Manager dot com)?? Also saw strumming his gut with his fingers on the next table.
Ground old and scruffy but with the one huge new stand that somehow makes the rest of it look even older and more tired. Like a granny wearing a designed tank-top.
Although the ground was far from full the home fans created a lot of noise and good atomosphere. We were in the John Charles stand that was full of committed home fans who were very friendly and made it a relaxed experience. Easy access to the bar at half time (we shared a pie). Also, old couple next to us shared sweets from a paper bag.
Good game (local derby) with Leeds coming from 2 down to win 3-2 in overtime.
p.s. this was the day we went to pay for the Mumsie''s 2CV birthday present on the way.
