Enjoyable match despite no goals. Tranmere were unlucky not to win - they hit the woodwork twice and had 3 penalty appeals turned down. The ground is quite large, especially the Kop end where I sat, but lots of empty seats. Enjoyed the Rockford Files music when the teams came on, and the trip through the amazingly long Mersey tunnel to Birkenhead. Also surprised by the atmosphere - dead as a dodo in first half when Tranmere defending Kop and all the action at the Cowshed end. But when they attacked the Kop second half it suddenly got very noisy - a drummer and loads of singing/chanting (in the Kop). Bizarre how one 45 mins was dead quiet and the other 45 mins was really noisy! BEFORE - Yes, once in late 1980s with Steve O''Riordan when he was in his sandwich year working for ICI near Runcorn/Liverpool - we went to a Friday evening match v Blackpool I think.
