Comments :
I refereed a few games at Withernsea and usually went the 20 miles or so to the ground by East Yorkshire bus since Beeching closed the Hull-Withernsea railway line in 1964. This time though I was offered a lift by one of the away team who lived in Hull. Unfortunately, I harshly sent him off in the second-half. I was a bit prone to the shouts of the crowd when I was still a young referee aged 17. The player still gave me a lift back home though.
