GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

Goldstone Bottom, was first used as a sporting venue by Brighton Hockey Club in 1900 and when Hove FC took over a year later a stand was constructed at the south end. Brighton & Hove Albion FC, took over the lease when Hove FC moved out in 1904 and by 1910 the only addition to facilities had been the installation of a small stand on the west side, obtained from Preston Park.

The club bought the ground in 1926 and prior to WWII covers were constructed at each end but it was not until 1957 that a new main stand was built on the west side. (Later supplemented by a 974 seat temporary stand built alongside it in 1979 and removed in 1985.) In 1980 the north stand roof was demolished and its replacement in 1985 was virtually the last alteration before the club vacated the Goldstone Ground in 1997. The site is now in use as a retail park.
