Located in the Low Team area, south west of the town centre, Redheugh Park was constructed on the site of a clay pit by the Borough Council and opened in 1930. By the time that the ground was sub-let to the Redheugh Park Greyhound Racing Co. Ltd in 1937 there were stands and covered accommodation on all four sides of the oval shaped arena. Some improvements were made to facilitate greyhound racing but the stand at the south end was removed to make way for a totalisator board.
The racing ceased in 1948 and, following their failure to gain re-election in 1960, Gateshead FC continued to use the stadium until 1973 when they moved to the Gateshead International Stadium.
Redheugh Park was subsequently demolished and part of the site utilized for a sports centre.
