GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

Opened to football in 1880, Linthorpe Road occupied the northern half of an old cricket ground. The facilities consisted of a Grandstand, sited on the north side of the ground, narrow open seated areas around the other sides and a few outbuildings located on the east side which were utilized as dressing rooms and refreshment facilities. Middlesbrough FC moved to Ayresome Park in 1903 and re-erected the Grandstand at their new ground. Linthorpe Road was subsequently redeveloped with St Aidan’s Church and housing later occupying the site.
